Are you Doing This to Increase your Google Page Rank?

Posted on January 22nd, 2010 in Google | 2 Comments »

I receive a number of emails from people who are customers and a lot who are not, but could use some advice on how to increase their website`s Google page rank.

So, because my time is limited, and I can not answer the hundreds of emails that I receive, and since today is the start of the New Year, I am beginning my series on tips and tricks for increasing your Google page rank.

I think you will enjoy this series, and most importantly use the tips and tricks I provide to help your website take off.

Lets start with the basics in this series and that is what exactly is the Google page rank and why is it important. The Google page rank or in short called the GPR, is method by which Google ranks the popularity of a website and/or pages on a website. This ranking is handled through Google`s unique and highly classified computer algorithm.

Through this algorithm Google is able to rank and return search results of websites based on what a user enters in the Google search textbox.

Studies and statistics have shown the higher you appear on the search list, the greater chance someone will click the resulting link. For example, lets say you do a search on sneakers and a company comes up as the first link to click. Studies have shown the first link receives the most clicks, followed by the second and so on. The resulting search list was determined by the ranking that combined with the search criteria. The higher your rank as compared to other web sites that meet the same search criteria, the higher your placement will be.

Your goal as a web owner or website administrator is to increase your Google page rank so that your site will appear higher when someone does a search that will meet the criteria of your site.

I know this is a lot of broad based information, however this series will fill in all the gaps and answer all of your questions. I promise. Also feel free to ask me any questions to be answered in a future article in this series.

Now that you know some of the basics, lets get to our first tip. How do you begin to increase that Google page rank?

Start with link exchanging. A link exchange is the matter of you agreeing to post a link on your website pointing back to another website who will do the same. Google looks favorably upon a website when other sites point to it. The more links you have pointing to your site the better off you will be and be able to increase your score.

Keep these few tips in mind when exchanging links. A link exchange is not about your visitors clicking the link to go to another website or vice versa. So do not think that because your link is on another website you will start getting all of their traffic. Chances are you may get some, but that is highly unlikely. The idea is to obtain as many websites as possible to point back to your website (usually your home page) to increase your rank.

Two, keep a separate page of your links. Your website should have a page called links where you display the information of all the websites you have exchanged links with.

Three, your links page should be accessible from your home page so that the Google crawling spiders can find it. That is looked favorable upon.

Four, last but not least, never have more than 50 links to other websites on a given page. Anything over 50 links to a page and Google sees that as being a link farm, and decreases the score of those links. Once you reach 50, start a new links page, and then link the next link page from the first page. Continue this same process for each new links page you need to create.

For example, our website has exchanged links with over 3,500 websites. So we have over 70 pages of links. This of course was done over a period of time, and has increased our page rank tremendously.

In our next article in this series, we will talk about how exchanging links with websites that have already established a sizable Google page rank, has greater benefits.

How to Increase Search Engine Traffic to Your Web Site

Posted on December 23rd, 2009 in PPC | No Comments »

The work begins with the content of your site. You need to zone in on your target audience and make your site about that. Then you need to make sure your content is full of keywords that are connected to the content of your site so you can pull in the search engines. Be careful not to overfill your website with key words, this could make the search engine think you are trying to cheat. Let the keywords flow within the content of your site.

Keyword rich is just blending the keywords in with main content of your site. You will need the most significant keyword to the content of your site in the domain name as well. Plus, if your site has been in the search engine for a while, you need to update the content or change it so as to keep the interest of people as well as the search engine. Concentrate on just a few keywords, and try to repeate them four or five times whithin the content of your site.

Another way to increase search engine traffic is by posting links to your sites on other sites. It does not matter if it is another one of your own sites or a site that belongs to some other person or business, get your site noticed with many other links. Plus, submit you site to as many search engines as you can.

Common sense will tell you that the more opportunity that you give people to access you site, the more chance that you will have traffic. Adding links to your site in other places and by adding your site to many different search engines it bound to increase the search engine traffic, there in, leading people to your site.

When you don’t have the time or energy to keep up your site but still want to increase search engine traffic, then you should consider hiring a professional search engine optimizer. They will make sure that your site is complying with all of the search engine rules, while keeping the information up to date and seeing that the search engines will like your site.

This may cost you a lot but for bigger companies this is a must. Do your homework, and select a good company. A professional will take the stress off of you while increasing search engine traffic to your site and increase your business dramatically.

Increase Search Engine Traffic With Quality Content!

Posted on December 17th, 2009 in PPC | No Comments »

Every web site owner wants to increase search engine traffic. It’s free and the visitor is targeted to your subject matter, product or service. What more could you ask for in search engine traffic? The downside is that you need to understand search engine ranking methods and that is quite a challenge for many.

The amount of opinions and “experts” on ways to increase search engine traffic is overwhelming. And regardless of what anyone might tell you, they’re all guessing. The search engines themselves don’t divulge how their methods work for one simple reason. As soon as anyone figures out the method, there’s a mad rush to implement changes based on the method.

In a perfect world, where there were no scoundrels, this might not be a factor. Everyone would organize their web site information so that a visitor could easily find what they’re are looking for, and life would be good. But we certainly don’t live in a perfect world and scoundrels are everywhere.

So we are at the mercy of the search engines to help us sort through the clutter to find what we want. And that’s the value that the search engines provide, accurate and meaningful search engine results that are related to the search terms or phrases. So it goes back to the quality of content, that’s the only common factor in all 3 major search engines ranking methods.

Each of the big 3 (Google, Yahoo, and MSN) search engines use a little different method and technology to arrive at any given web site’s ranking under specific search terms. As mentioned above, no one knows exactly how each method works. But you can test different strategies and methods to see how they impact your rank.

And therein lies the only true method of determining what the search engines might look for when ranking your web page on specific search terms. I’m sure most of us are aware that most processes can be expressed in mathematical equations. I’m not sure if that’s the best method for search engine ranking but it is the most popular for the search engine ranking process.

And consider the fact that when someone has determined (or thinks they have determined) one of the factors used in search engine rankings they beat it to death. Every discovered aspect in the past few years has been exploited immediately to the point of the search engines abandoning the tactic. As soon as the search engines see that someone can beat the system, they change it.

That’s one of the big reasons you see constant change in ranking methods. Since there is a tremendous amount of revenue at stake for all concerned, i.e. sales of products and services for the web site owners, plus the advertising revenue for the search engines, any advantage is huge.

If you would have tested and tracked all the changes and methods in search engine rankings for the past few years, one constant factor would stand out. This is also one of the most misunderstood and often overlooked single element in search engine ranking for a specific term.

So what’s the one thing that the search engines can’t change about their mathematical algorithms? You got it, CONTENT! The search engines can play with the process, methods, or means to judge web site content. But if web site owners stick to the basic philosophy of providing meaningful content, in relation to the search term, the impact of changes are far less if even felt.

And that is where many web site owners run afoul of getting good search engine rankings. Many jump on the bandwagon with every new revelation in search engine strategies based on the latest changes. It’s the old forest and trees scenario, Internet style. Even if you get a slight advantage from all these “new” tactics, it will be short lived. As soon as the search engines catch on that you are working the system, they will change the system.

So the best way to increase your rankings for a particular search term is to provide meaningful information or content based on that search term. Here a few guidelines I’ve found that help:

-Make sure you focus on the subject matter (don’t try to satisfy too many terms with one web page).
-Get inside the searcher’s head – figure out what they want and give it to them.
-Be specific and provide details – don’t generalize and be descriptive
-If a sales page use benefits and features to fully explain the problem and the solution.
-Update your information often – setup a schedule to update and add more content

There are many sub factors that can have an impact on how well the search engine bots can determine the value of the content. The search engine bots are software programs that go out and “read” your web page and then provide the information to rank your web pages on what it discovered.

You’ll find many “experts” who will give you a hard list of items and how to present this information. And I don’t disagree with suggestions to include the search term in your web page in key areas like title, description, and font designations like H1. That helps the search engine software bots to determine the content.

But I’ve seen web pages with no meta-tags, title, or description but had rock solid content and still had high search engine rankings on a particular search term. So make it easy for the search engines but always remember that the content is the single consistent factor in search engine rankings.

There are a lot of different aspects to consider when trying to improve your search engine ranking, and increase search engine traffic. The keyword and phrase research, interpreting the search term or phrase to provide the best result, reviewing other popular web sites with the same intentions, linking to other like content web sites, and more. How you present the information and content is also an important issue.

But all those factors come after good content. So if you start with providing the best content, you can’t go wrong. After all, this is both an art and a science, not to mention a moving target. If you would like to learn more, please visit on our other article links below.

How To Increase Your Google Page Rank

Posted on December 17th, 2009 in Google | No Comments »

Increasing your page rank on Google sometimes seems like a daunting task when you first start to promote your website. There are many different techniques used to increase pagerank, but the primary way is to obtain quality one-way links to your website. The more backlinks you have, the more “votes” Google will view your website as having and the chances of increasing your page rank will greatly increase. Below are a couple of tips that will help you obtain the type of backlinks you need to achieve a higher page ranking.

One of the most import things you can do when promoting your website is to submit to directories. Directories are basically categorized listings of websites. When your website is listed in a directory, a backlink to your website is created in the listing. This is a fantastic way to get quality links to your website. The other benefit of being listed in directories is that it has the potential to drive targeted traffic to your own website. There are many ways to get listed in directories which include manual submissions, using software for submissions (semi-automated), and hiring a company to do the submissions for you.

Another good way to obtain backlinks is to join forums. Here you can achieve links to your website by including links to your website in the comments you make and by including a link in your signature. It is a good idea to join forums where the subject matter is on the same wavelength of what your website is about. For example, you would not want to join a forum on dogs if your website is promoting a work at home business. The links would certainly help, but it would make much more sense to join a form and obtain backlinks from a site that is related to your own.

One of the quickest and easiest ways to achieve quality, one-way text links is to purchase the links. Although some people will look at this as being an expensive alternative, it can by far be the easiest and quickest route since the links are placed almost immediately, the links are targeted, and the links are typically placed on a website that has a higher pageranking themselves. The higher the pagerank is on the page that your backlink resides on, the better chance you have at achieving a higher page rank on your own website. One of the most affordable places to buy quality text links online is www.iSellPagerank.com. They offer targeted, one-way links and directory submissions that are specifically geared toward increasing your website’s page rank.

Page rank is very important and can certainly have a major impact on your website. The higher the page rank of your website, the better you are going to rank for specific keywords in all of the major search engines like Google, Yahoo, and MSN which in turn, will drive much more traffic to your website. Persistence, determination, and keeping up with page rank techniques will bring your website out on top!

Getting Higher Page Rank to Increase Your Website Traffic

Posted on December 10th, 2009 in Google | No Comments »

Trying to get good page rank for your website can be a most frustrating experience for webmasters. After all, what is page rank and why should you care about it?

In the simplest terms, page rank (PR) is how much of the Google toolbar for page rank that is filled in with green. If the page you are looking at has a PR1 then 1/10th of the bar will be filled with green. If it has PR4, then 4/10ths of the bar will be green. Mostly only Google gets all of the bar filled green for a PR10, which is the highest possible rating.

To get the Google toolbar, which has the page rank bar, go to http://toolbar.google.com/ and download Google’s toolbar. It will sit on top of your browser. The toolbar will not only provide you with lots of Google resources but it will also give you the page rank bar so you can see the page rank of your site and also that of any other site that you visit it.

But what exactly is Google’s page rank system? Well, Google doesn’t tell us exactly. However, we do know page rank relies primarily on Google’s algorithms for determining the “importance” of the site or individual pages. The higher your site’s PR, the more often it will show up in the SERPs (search engine results pages).

I can’t speak officially for Google, but what webmasters have learned is that page rank is based primarily on the links to your site (called backlinks) that determine for Google how important your site is.

Google relies on a fairly democratic system by using its vast link structure to determine a page’s value. Very simply, if your page gets a link from another site, that’s a “vote” for your site. The more votes, the better.

However, Google also analyzes where the “votes” come from. If your site gets links from high-quality, authority sites with high PR, then your site benefits more from links from those high PR site sites than from links from non-authority or low PR sites.

Furthermore, if you put your link on another site with thousands of other links to other websites, then just be aware that Google will take that into consideration and will give your link its relatively small slice of of the other site’s PR divided amongst all of the other links, if the site has any PR at all. So putting your site’s link on a page that has a lot of other links may not do you that much good.

It’s just good business to always check the PR of the sites with which you may want to exchange links by using the Google toolbar. Also, be sure to check out the page the other site wants to put your link on so you know how many links they are publishing. Less than 100 links is what you are looking for and less than 20 links is ideal.

Also, realize that reciprocal links (where your site links to their site and they link to yours) is less valuable in Google’s eyes than one-way links to your site.

Once you get the Google toolbar and start seeing the PRs of other sites, you will be able to see the sites that get good PR and be able to model your site after those. I can’t stress enough the importance of having the Google toolbar …

Increase Web Traffic With SEO

Posted on December 1st, 2009 in traffic | No Comments »

In the last several years Google has become a widely-recognized brand, even recently ranked as the top-known brand name in the world. Anyone who is hosting a website, advertising online, or doing business should understand how to utilize Google services well. In short, over half of all Internet searches use Google.

Google’s services can help searchers find your business in several different ways. Your site, like all the other public sites on the Web, is scanned often by automatic ’spider’ applications which make an examination for the links and content of each web page. Google’s index contains over ten billion pages; the company updates its indexes on a regular basis, a task that requires the use of almost half a million servers.

When users submit search terms at the site, Google will present a list of selected and ordered matches. The order in which they are presented is determined by several different factors. The factors of this search include the relevancy of the content on the page to the search terms, along with what Google calls the ‘PageRank’ of that particular page. Other factors probably play in as well, but these algorithms are secret.

PageRank is expressed as a number which is calculated during the process of indexing (0-10). Each web page that the spider examines will be assigned a PageRank number. Starting at zero, the number grows as the page receives links from other sites, either from the same host for from other externally-based sites. The Google policy here is that pages receive rank not from the amount of accesses they serve, but by the correlated relevancy of content and the amount of links that refer them. Google’s description: “Google interprets a link from page A to B as a vote, by page A, for page B. Votes cast by pages that are themselves important weigh more heavily and help to make other pages important.” So, increased site traffic won’t improve your PageRank, but a better PageRank will probably result in increased traffic to your site.

Where Does Your Site Sit in Google’s World?

To find out your site’s PageRank, use Google’s Toolbar in your Web browser. If you don’t have it pre-installed, just search for it.

How Does a Site Increase Visitor Traffic?

There’s an entire new field to address this question: search engine optimizers. These SEO companies are great for expert advice. There are also some things you can do to increase the amount of unpaid traffic at your web site.

1) Website Redesign – Make your site focus more on the issues that people search on more frequently.

2) Place Articles – These articles can feature incoming links to your web site.

3) Localize – By adding sections by geographic location, your content can feature info related to a particular place, including community events. Google gives favor to a search that includes a city name in it.

By implementing these simple suggestions, you could see your unpaid web traffic triple in short time.
