Google Page Rank – Why Does it Matter Anyways?

Posted on January 2nd, 2010 in Google | No Comments »

The popularity of Google can be gauged from the fact that the Oxford dictionary included it in its directory as a term that refers to the search mechanism. Since its inception, Google has changed the way people search for information online. Though a late entrant in the field, it has become the most popular search engine on the World Wide Web. This was primarily because of its superior performance, ease of use and high quality of results. In fact, with time Google has grown more than just a search engines. It enjoys unparalleled authority on the internet and its results determine the success or failure of a website in the cyberspace.

Google Page Rank
One of the factors that Google uses to rank web documents is the Page Rank. Google PageRank if a numerical figure on the scale of 0 to 10, 0 being the least and 10 being the highest figure that denotes the quality of the website.

What Determines the Page Rank?

Keyword Density
One of the prime methods that determine the ranking of websites on search engine results is its relevance for the searched query. The frequency of occurrence of the search phrase on the website is what decides where it will be placed in the search engine results page. The occurrence of the search phrase is measured with respect to the length of the web document. This is known as keyword density. The more the keyword density, more will be the relevancy of the website.

However, it should be noted that blatant keyword stuffing would not work. Google knows how to identify these malpractices and penalizes websites for the same. The idea is to disperse keywords strategically along the web document so that the content makes sense at the same time is rich in targeted keywords.

Link Popularity
Another factor to gauge website popularity is to actually determine how popular the website is on the Internet. This can be seen by counting the number of web pages linking to the concerned website. The numbers of links that point to your website tell about how many of them think that your website is worth. The number of inbound links determines the importance of a website and is called its link popularity.

Inbound links is not only measured by the quantity of links to your website but also with the quality of links. If your website has 100 links from malicious or low PageRank websites, it would not be better than having 10 links from high PageRank established websites. Link popularity is another important factor that determines the PageRank of a website.

Content Quality
The quality of content that is uploaded on the website plays yet another important role in determining the PageRank of the website. In fact, this is a preceding factor for link popularity itself. If the content on your website is fresh, original and informative then more and more visitors will visit and websites would want to link to you. This increases your link popularity and soars your ranking on Google.

However, make sure that the content you update is original. Google penalizes website for plagiarized content.

Google Page Rank optimization – quick look

Posted on December 30th, 2009 in Google | No Comments »

When i launched my site I thought it would be a big task to optimize my site ranking in googlesearch engine. But its not that hard trust me. I will be picking up points which will will help you in your sites ranking optimization. Here i go :

Before buying a domain

Always check which domain you are buying. Never buy a domain with a common name, very hard to optimize. Try a name which is not common.

While preparing your webpages

Add meta tags—> description, keywords, title. Give the first prefrence to the words related what your site is about like for website designing —–> website design studio – sycamore.in, dont write the name of your site first. Add only relevant words as the search only picks up the first 3-4 words only while searching, rest are picked up they are not found on any other website.

2.Keywords are written as –> website, designing, so on and description–>website design, flash template design, etc.

After launching your site ( adding link )

Try to add your website in all the search engines and open directories. It is very necessary step. Open directories are the best to boost up your ranking.

2.Article writing is the best way. Submit your articles to the popular article submission websites. One is ezinearticles.com.Really good one.

If you are lazy like me add comments to various blogs you find on the net.I use www.globeofblogs.com to find all teh blogs. And do taKe a look where you are adding your link the page should have a page rank where your comment is being added otherwise it will not be of much help.

4.(important) Why adding links is so important? When google’s crawler starts to crawls the websites present on the web, it checks for the links on the pages which are already cached in its database. If your link is not there your site will not be crawled. Its like a chain reaction, one is linked to the other, other is linked to another. But if your site is a new submission it will have to wait to get a tocken. After the token is recieved then only your site will be crawled. But if your link is found on a site which has a good rank in google. Your site will be crawled and pages from your site will be cached. For eg if google crawls a site on 21st of every month and your site is linked to it your site will also be crawled on that day. Before adding the link to a page do check when has google cached that page.

Please do read all the points carefully. These can fetch you a good rank in google. This article is the private property of Bikramjit Singh. You can distribute it further in any way but please make sure that the name of the author remains intact while publishing.

thanks

Is the Page Rank Based On Inbound Links Accurate?

Warning: gzinflate() [function.gzinflate]: data error in /home/webtraff/public_html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1787

Some business men are thinking that inbound links mean little to nothing. What is important for them is earnings, page views, and revenue. Everything else is not very important for them. How do you earn more from an online advertising campaign?

Does getting inbound links from a poor page do any good? Is it worth spending time to get it? The search engine optimizers’ answer is yes. The anchor text is really valuable and low page rank doesn’t mean that the source page is poor; the page does not follow an appropriate SEO campaign. A low PR can rank well and a link from it would be valuable too.

But the best solution is to have inbound links for important sites, which places you high on Google’s results list. Maybe it’s wise to think further than page rank. The potential traffic of famous brands, for example, is very important too.

Some well known firms have a very low PR, but the traffic they are generating is worth getting it. There are sites that may even have a PR of 0, but the site content is related to your sites. Go ahead and link to these kinds of sites because relevancy is also very important.

The general idea is that every link is getting a better page rank; Google really loves links strategy. There is no single inbound link that can hurt a site; there are some links banned by Google.

They can make outbound links to you, but search engines understand that a website designer or webmaster can’t control every time this happens. The punishment isn’t applied every time when irregular links appear.

It is wise to verify as often as possible the outbound links source and eliminate the dangerous ones. If linking a bad site becomes a usual activity, search engines will penalize this fact.

Months, maybe even years of hard work from web designers, programmers, webmasters and search engine optimizers will be vanished. Any attempt to reach a high page rank will remain without a result.

There are some addresses where the punished webmasters can ask for forgiveness and have the right place in the results page again. It does not work every time. In principle, there is no penalty given to a site that links to a relevant page; but using the reciprocal links farm will get a website severely punished not only by Google, but also by the other popular search engines.

There are linking directories that you may join to link to other sites with relevant content or with a high page rank. Just be sure to check your backlinks to make sure they are linking back to you because Google does not favor those who have hundreds of links with no backlinks. A great resource to join and start linking your websites is:

o http://www.MyLinkMachine.com

You may also want to consider article submission to directories to insert your links into your articles. If a reader is very interested in your article, chances are that they will click on your link to visit your website. To star submitting your articles to a great directory, go to:

o http://www.MyContentBuilder.com

Article submission can be tedious, which is why you may want to consider an automatic article submitter. It can submit one article to over 30 sites in a half an hour. To watch a video on how to accomplish this, go to:

Optimising your Page Ranking

Posted on December 25th, 2009 in Google | No Comments »

Warning: gzinflate() [function.gzinflate]: data error in /home/webtraff/public_html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1787

Have you ever gone through the often depressing exercise of typing in keywords, even specific ones, on a search engine like Google, only to find your site buried in the muddy depths of page three? At this point, may I suggest that you have probably done one of three things, a) shrugged your shoulders and elected to market your services or goods in old-fashioned ways, b) got dispirited and closed your site down, or, c) made some enquiries about changing the situation so that your Web site ranked somewhere high on page 1 instead of down there in the mud.

It is you C people that will most likely be reading this article, and you are definitely the category of Web Owners who I believe will benefit both of us, by reading this article.

So just how do you go about improving the position of your website on a search engine, when a potential customer of yours tries to find goods or services in your area that you can offer them?

Well firstly let us get through some of the verbage. The measure of whether you are top 10 on page 1 of the search result, or somewhere else, (which really translates to nowhere), is all down to a calculation called page ranking or PR for short. Okay, so now you know this, let us discuss how you can increase that PR so as to drive real live prospective customers to your site in ever increasing numbers.

The major search engines all use a similar algorithm to determine the PR of any given site as a result of any given keyword search. The full detail of how that algorithm is constructed is beyond the scope of this short article, so let’s discuss the dot points.

The number of hits your site receives is taken into account, as is the volume of content, and the time you have been continuously online. However, the most powerful criteria the search engine will use is something loosely described as peer linkage. Peer linkage, what on earth is that I hear you ask? Peer linkage expressed very simply is a count of how many sites, with relevance to yours, have chosen to have a link to your site.

By way of and example; Pete the plumber from Anytown has a website. He is a successful plumber and has developed strong relationships with various plumbing supply companies in his area. Because of this relationship those plumbing supply companies have chosen to place a link back to Pete’s website on their websites. They choose to do this, as they find him to be an honest tradesman who represents the craft of plumbing well, and who undoubtedly supports their busnesses by buying his supplies from them. What Pete possibly doesn’t realise is that his site will have a very favourable PR ‘hit’, largely due to the fact that his local suppliers all carry a link back to him. This is a classic example of peer linkage in operation. In addition, the higher the PR that the plumbing supply sites have, the more upwards leverage our friend Pete will experience as a result of them choosing to link back to him.

Does this scenario fit your business and your website? If so, could you, (or would you), do the necessary legwork to have relevant peer sites place a link back to your site, on their site? If the answer is potentially yes, but there aren’t that many hours in the day, read on for a solution.

There is a whole industry out there devoted to assisting you, for a fee, to optimise your search engine ranking or PR. This industry is known collectively as search engine optimisation, or SEO for short. For a fee, usually a very big fee, they will take your web address and tweak it to maximise your PR. Want to know how they do it?

Well the main way for them to optimise your search engine results is to create peer sites, mimicking the example given above of Pete and his suppliers, and make sure that those peer sites contain a link back to your site. So what, in internet terms constitutes a site? Does it have to be a full-blown bells and whistles website? No it does not. It just has to have what is known as an HTTP address, in other words a unique Internet address that is searchable by everyone. One page is fine, as long as that page contains information relevant to your site, along with a link back to your site. By a million miles the most time and cost efficient method of achieving these requirements is to write an article that is relevant to your business goods or services and publish it on the Internet.

My suggestion is simply this. Cut out the cost, and cut out the middleman, and create these articles yourself.

So what does this entail? Well it means you need to be able to write, at least 6, (preferably 10 to 12), articles the contents of which bear a strong relationship to your business and your site, and have them published on the Internet. No, they don’t have to be War and Peace, 4 or 500 words minimum is acceptable, just ensure that it is relevant to your site and that it is free of spelling and grammatical errors. Oh and hey, don’t forget the all important inclusion of the link back to your website.

Okay, so you’ve got your articles written and I hear you ask, now what! Well I suggest you find an article site that accepts articles from authors, just like you, and publishes them for free on the Internet. This gives your article its unique Internet address, and therefore the peer support that the search engines seek to determine your page ranking. What’s even better, is that other sites can (and do) adopt your article as their own, and by publishing it on their site, spreading the distribution of your article, thereby working to further increase your page ranking.

So how can sites like this exist, publishing articles for free? Do they on the other side charge people to read, download or print your article? No they do not. These types of sites rely on the targeted advertising that is shown on them. Advertising aimed at you the author, as well as all the people who may choose to read print or download your articles.

One final tip, and a breath of fresh air to authors. Instead of joining all these article sites one by one, why not sign up with a marketer who will accept your article and then in turn distribute it widely on your behalf. Article Marketer is one such service. Have a look at the costs, and determine how much your time is worth. Are you really saving money when you are frequently diverted from the main game of writing those articles?

All the very best of luck maximising your footprint on the gigantic world wide web.

Page Rank and Google

Posted on December 24th, 2009 in Google | 1 Comment »

Warning: gzinflate() [function.gzinflate]: data error in /home/webtraff/public_html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1787

Well this is a topic that provokes much dissention in the world of SEO and is probably one of the most misunderstood factors in the world of optimisation. In fact every popular forum is guaranteed to have at least one current thread that addresses this subject in one way or another.

Well what is true and what is myth?

It is true that Page rank is important but it is a myth that you should chase it.

It is true that you should pursue the activity that will improve it but false that you can measure it.

It is true that sites that have a good Pagerank will often be well placed in generic searches but false that this is the only factor influencing this placement.

So where does Pagerank come from?

Going back to the start of the evolution of Google it all began with the development of a search engine that could deliver more accurate results than facilities such as Alta Vista and Excite who back then were just two of a variety of dominant search engines.

Google was different, it was different because it ranks on different factors and this started when the founders decided to see if they could crawl the whole of web world and trace every link that could be found.

It is probably not correct at this point to conclude that Larry Page and Sergey Brin were trying to create a new internet search engine. But the concept of tracking and sorting all the links on the Internet was certainly heading that way.

What was even more impressive than just tracking the number of links was the idea of examining the link relationship between different sites and thus determining the concept of rank!

It was March 1996 when Larry pointed his crawler at his homepage at Stamford University and let it lose to explore the world. From the information gathered it was possible to sort sites that were important from sites that were less important according to link quantity, that was just the start and much more was on the agenda.

The concept was that once this site hierarchy is determined then the value of a link can be determined, it was a complex mathematical process but with Sergey the mathematician on board it was deliverable. The goal of course was achieved, Page and Brin were able to develop a system of ranking based on the number of links into a particular site factoring in the number of links to each of the sites that were linking to that particular site.

Once this was done they started to search the data and noticed that many of the results were more relevant to the query than when the same query was entered into the established search engines.

Thus was born the soul of Google and the intrinsic relationship with pagerank, of course this term came from the marriage of the evaluation process: rank, to the surname of Larry Page, hence Pagerank.

Thus another fact is established and that is Pagerank is not named because of a value of a webpage but from the founders surname. The obsession with Pagerank continues and debates rage but at the end of the day it is a mathematical formula and uses quantifiable elements to determine the end product which is rank.

Whilst it is important to understand what builds Pagerank anybody of repute understands that we do not know what the true PR is of any particular site or page. Google have given us an indicator which like any such directive was instantly abused so to the point where we are firmly in the dark as to the true Pagerank and we have to rely on the Google Toolbar indicator which is out of date and totally inaccurate.

Even the backlink indicator is not reliable in Google since this was also abused in the drive to gain position by manipulation, after its release as a command it was quickly dulled down.

Every Pagerank checker uses the Toolbar mechanism in one way or another and so all those so called experts out there offering true PR tracking services are also deluded or deceptive with their claims.

And therein lies the Achilles Heel, once the industry understood the relationship between links and ranking then it was open to abuse in the effort to manipulate the position of any given website. This has led to ever more stringent changes to the system which can have cataclysmic effects on millions of websites as different updates are served to Googles ranking model.

In a modern world the vast majority of linking is now done to try and pass a vote for authority with the aim of adjusting website positions in a positive way. The early days of links passing a natural vote of quality are gone for a huge section of the Internet, where this natural process still occurs is whereby the rank and file still link naturally to facilities such as Microsoft and Adobe and many other Goliaths.

What is certain though is that the average business website has its search engine position in part due to some manipulation of the link process, of course linking can be encouraged by releasing quality information, having a great content rich site and despite the manipulation Google still manages to produce remarkable results for relevancy.

This means that after a decade the system of Pagerank survives as the most relevant and accurate process for delivery search results to people entering their respective search queries.

Pagerank has been a feature in the working life of Shaun Parker for a decade, just why has Pagerank had such an influence on the world of

Future Relevancy Or Page Rank

Posted on December 22nd, 2009 in Google | No Comments »

Warning: gzinflate() [function.gzinflate]: data error in /home/webtraff/public_html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1787

With all the talk about search engines and relevancy, I came up with some interesting thoughts that I wanted share about where I believe the search engines are heading concerning basic Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

Trying to stay ahead of the search engines, which is nearly impossible, I’ve been trying to look to the future of SEO while creating web pages following the guidelines of the major search engines.

One of the largest problems the major search engines are dealing with is Search Engine Spam, Adsense Spam, and “Spammy Pages” such as keyword stuffing to gain higher rankings. In guidelines from Google, they mention write your pages for the users, not for the search engines. This statement alone, is a little prediction of the future of what is coming. And in order to stay ahead of the curve with some long term planning, I am suggesting we should take this to heart, and stop using the older SEO methods that eventually will hurt us.

Websites are being currently being penalized and dropped from years of top rankings for not adapting to the search engines guidelines and continuing to use SEO methods of years ago.

In thinking in terms of long-term success to maintain high rankings for each of the major search engines, through about as much research as you do online, I have came up with a few guidelines to the basic SEO ideas for the future.

One of the most important aspect for the search engines, and what I have seen and predict will have more importance is website copywriting. We’ll this is nothing new, we all know website copywriting is important, may as high at 45% of our copywriting contributes to our page rank. This will always remain important, and I believe will become even more important to high as 85% of what our website says will contribute to our page ranking in the future, as a shift from the search engine giving higher ranking from a technical aspect to more of a informational or relevancy aspect.

Eliminating some of the currently used technical aspects may maintain higher ranking in the coming future. Let me explain some of the commonly abused technical SEO habits currently, that I believe is headed toward extinction.

a. Keyword Meta tags. This tag alone is open to elimination due to the common abuse methods such as keyword stuffing. Most major search engines generally ignore this tagline currently.

b. ALT tags are another tagline that is just in the beginning stages of being eliminated. Some search engines have been experimenting with ignoring ALT tags and have found out that pages indexed without ALT tags are returning higher relevancy results. Again like the Meta tags, ALT tags have been abused to such from as keyword stuff.

c. The two Meta tags that will gain in importance will be the Title tag and Description tag. A title and description taglines accurately representing a well written website copy write will enhance your page’s relevancy.

I am not suggesting that today that we immediately stop using the successful technical SEO currently in place, but the gradual elimination of this technique as the search engines stop using each method. Personally, I no longer include the Keyword Meta taglines on my web pages, and will continue to remove useless html as that become irrelevant.

In summary, my opinion is that future SEO standards will be more focused on good copywriting and less on technical aspects such as Meta taglines, Alt taglines, Headings to gain a higher page rank, or should I say higher relevancy.

Using Article Submission Sites to Improve Page Rank

Posted on December 20th, 2009 in Google | No Comments »

If you are trying to make money with a website or blog, traffic is the lifeblood of your business. Without traffic, everything stops and sales are stalled at zero. One of the easiest ways to build traffic is by using article submission sites.

To significantly improve your site’s page rank, your articles must contain an effective resource box linking back to your site Search engines use the number and quality of these back-links to determine the relative importance of your website. Sites that have large numbers of quality backlinks will show up on (or close to) page one when people search for particular terms or phrases. Less important sites (with fewer and lower quality backlinks) will appear near the bottom of those search results.

In order to acquire higher page rank, you must submit to the right article submission sites. Using the right article submission sites, your articles will be reviewed promptly, show up in the search engines quickly, provide you with plenty of traffic, and improve the Page Rank of your site.

Many directories have a Page Rank of 1 or even zero. Your site gets little or no benefit when you submit articles to these sites. To improve the page rank of your site, it is important to submit your articles to the largest article submission sites. Submit your articles to directories with a page rank of four or higher.

By consistently submitting articles to the Largest Article Submission Sites, you will improve the page rank of your site. It will not happen overnight, it takes time to increase your page rank. But as your numbers improve, your site should move up in the search rankings and you should begin to see an increase in the number of people coming to your site through searches.

Do you want to know how I do it? I have just completed my brand new guide on how to make money every day.

Why is Linking Important for Your Page Rank

Posted on December 18th, 2009 in Google | No Comments »

Warning: gzinflate() [function.gzinflate]: data error in /home/webtraff/public_html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1787

Linking is one of the biggest factors in any search engine marketing strategy. In fact, you are better off spending your time acquiring inbound links than submitting your site to search engines.

Apart from being valuable with regard to search engines linking also helps establish you as an expert in your field, by linking to relevant content on other sites It shows that you are well read in the area of your expertise. Linking in this manner is more or less similar to placing references to other people’s work. In fact, it has been argued that by placing their materials on the Internet (without stating expressly their objection to external links), copyright owners grant ‘implied licenses to other users to link to them. As the founder of the World Wide Web, Tim Berners-Lee points out, there is no reason to have to ask for permission to link to other documents. Sites still need back links to rank high in SERP. (SERP or Search engine results page is the result returned when searching a key word. ) For speed o development, buying links from high ranking sites is an option. This is a very expensive method and I don’t recommend it unless you have very deep pockets. However you may have no alternative for building fast quality links unless you can offer high value information on your website so that people will not mind adding a link to your site.

Search engines, particularly Google, use link popularity to help evaluate and rank your website. Link popularity refers to the number, quality and relevance of inbound links from other websites to yours. they recognize the number of incoming links in its algorithm that determines placement rankings, they also look for quality Eg. page rank, the more links a website has the better, but the quality I think is more important than the amount. which may explain why you may appear at position 123 while your competitor appears on page 1. The more page rank a linking page has the more authority it lends to you If you use a reciprocal linking service you are probably wasting your time, the sites that you are linked too are from too wide a range of subjects to have any relevance or authority.

Another factor to consider is deep linking, where the in coming link goes directly to an internal page rather than your home page. For example you may have an article that is on yoursite .com /articles/ happydays.html A link from an outside site direct to that page would be deep linking as it is on the third layer of your site. Deep linking is good for your site as the overall page rank takes into account not only the links to your home page but also the total links to the site.

Google has become skilled at detecting un-natural linking patterns; links to sites that exist only to generate back links for the purpose of improving page ranking. Because of this many SEO experts are going back to fundamentals and using techniques like article writing to develop natural links What is a natural link ? It is an incoming link, it is not recipricol, and it has value (pagerank). If you build enough quality and relevant links to your site you’re site will still have traffic before, during, and after algorithm changes.

How To Increase Your Google Page Rank

Posted on December 17th, 2009 in Google | No Comments »

Increasing your page rank on Google sometimes seems like a daunting task when you first start to promote your website. There are many different techniques used to increase pagerank, but the primary way is to obtain quality one-way links to your website. The more backlinks you have, the more “votes” Google will view your website as having and the chances of increasing your page rank will greatly increase. Below are a couple of tips that will help you obtain the type of backlinks you need to achieve a higher page ranking.

One of the most import things you can do when promoting your website is to submit to directories. Directories are basically categorized listings of websites. When your website is listed in a directory, a backlink to your website is created in the listing. This is a fantastic way to get quality links to your website. The other benefit of being listed in directories is that it has the potential to drive targeted traffic to your own website. There are many ways to get listed in directories which include manual submissions, using software for submissions (semi-automated), and hiring a company to do the submissions for you.

Another good way to obtain backlinks is to join forums. Here you can achieve links to your website by including links to your website in the comments you make and by including a link in your signature. It is a good idea to join forums where the subject matter is on the same wavelength of what your website is about. For example, you would not want to join a forum on dogs if your website is promoting a work at home business. The links would certainly help, but it would make much more sense to join a form and obtain backlinks from a site that is related to your own.

One of the quickest and easiest ways to achieve quality, one-way text links is to purchase the links. Although some people will look at this as being an expensive alternative, it can by far be the easiest and quickest route since the links are placed almost immediately, the links are targeted, and the links are typically placed on a website that has a higher pageranking themselves. The higher the pagerank is on the page that your backlink resides on, the better chance you have at achieving a higher page rank on your own website. One of the most affordable places to buy quality text links online is www.iSellPagerank.com. They offer targeted, one-way links and directory submissions that are specifically geared toward increasing your website’s page rank.

Page rank is very important and can certainly have a major impact on your website. The higher the page rank of your website, the better you are going to rank for specific keywords in all of the major search engines like Google, Yahoo, and MSN which in turn, will drive much more traffic to your website. Persistence, determination, and keeping up with page rank techniques will bring your website out on top!

Page Rank – Here are Measurable Numbers

Posted on December 16th, 2009 in Google | 1 Comment »

Warning: gzinflate() [function.gzinflate]: data error in /home/webtraff/public_html/wp-includes/http.php on line 1787

In a recent update of how Google assigns authority, many web sites were assigned a reduced rate based on Googles Page Rank system. Google assigns a rating scale of 0 -10 as a form of reputation for a web page. Page rank can be found by the use of the Google toolbar.

Remember that Google ranks individual pages not sites. This is why I always recommend a clean design, which gives every page the same chance. Some database driven web sites don’t allow for this and even some marketing people don’t agree. When you are looking to win in competitive markets you need to apply this.

This change occurred after Google has voiced its dislike of the purchase of paid links for the reason of influencing natural search results. Business models have been based on the buying and selling of links for the purpose of gaining rank.

Many opinions had been made that these two events are connected and they effect the ranking of web sites. This is common opinion in the internet marketing area and provides a distorted view of the world. Only an assessment of a specific site can provide us real, measurable information.

One site that lost a large measure of its PR (Page Rank) from a rating of 10 to 6 is statcounter.com In a keyword count statcounter has over 3129 to keyword ranking listings. One of the number one ranked keywords, is “web stats”.

Based on the Gtrends tool from the keyword research site, Wordtracker.com, this word receives 18750 estimated searches per month in Google. Statcounter has kept it’s top ranking both before and after the update.

This brings us the conclusion that the reduction of page rank change was more of just a reshuffle of authority, rather than a change of how Google ranks web sites. Other sites that sell paid links have had similar results.
