Internet Marketing Strategy: 5 Dumb Mistakes People Make

Posted on December 15th, 2009 in Internet Marketing | No Comments »

You have probably heard business owners complaining that their Internet marketing strategy is just not working. When you ask them what exactly their Internet marketing strategies are, they all tell you a similar story. It’s easy to realize that when Internet marketing SEO is concerned, people are making a lot of stupid mistakes. Here are five common mistakes that people make when promoting their websites.

The first stupid Internet marketing strategy mistake that people make is to trust their Internet marketing consultant fully. Sure, in any business relationship, you are going to have to have trust. But you don’t want to trust them so much that you forget about what they said they were going to do and when they said they were going to do it. If, after signing the contract, your Internet marketing consultant puts his feet up and starts relaxing, it may be time to find a new Internet marketing strategy.

Another stupid mistake people make is when they think that Internet marketing SEO is going to solve all of their advertising problems. Sure, Internet marketing is important, but forgetting about more traditional means of advertising for your business is going to keep some people from learning about your business. If you are selling spare computer parts, you may just want to stick to Internet marketing, but if you are selling household clothes, clothing or pizzas, you want to make sure to look into other forms of advertising as well.

The third stupid Internet marketing strategy mistake that people make is to not keep proper records. When starting an advertising campaign, you need to have a baseline – knowing how many customers you are already bringing in, how much profit you are making and so on. If you don’t know these numbers before you start the campaign, how will you know that your Internet marketing strategy is working?

One really stupid mistake is to put your Internet marketing strategy in place before your website is completed. Sure, good Internet marketing strategies are going to get people to come to your site, but if they come to a site that is still under construction, they are not likely to bookmark it and they are not going to come back. Make sure that you have a high quality website and product before starting your marketing.

The fifth stupid mistake is to not have an Internet marketing strategy. Even if you are a company that has just started out, you need one. If you are not on the Internet, you are definitely missing a huge percentage of customers. If you can’t describe what your Internet marketing strategy is, you’re also going to get scammed (or at the very least it will do nothing for your business). You should be able to explain what is going on with your business and what your advertising goals are.

If you are a new business owner, you’re probably excited about the whole process of getting people to come to your site and buy your product. Internet marketing strategy can be complex, and people make a lot of mistakes. The key to a good campaign is understanding how to get the most for what you are paying.

Targeted Web Traffic – How to Get Web Site Traffic With Free Resources

Posted on December 15th, 2009 in traffic | No Comments »

Targeted Web Traffic is getting visitors to your site who are interested in what you have to offer. These visitors have to be able to find your web site first. The two most common ways visitors will find your site is by typing in a word phrase into a search engine or linking to your web site from another web site. There are several ways to get your web site on the search engines results page and on other web sites. Many of these ways are free. Here are three free resources you can take advantage of to get targeted web traffic to your site.

Writing articles and publishing them on article web sites is a great way to bring attention to your web site. And sometimes these same articles will quickly rank on search engine results pages. This gives you another opportunity for visitors to find your site. These articles should have keywords or search phrases in them that visitors use to find information on your website topic. For example, if you have a website on aquariums. You would want your article to have phrases in it about aquariums or fish. These keywords should be considered in all three ways I discuss to get web site traffic.

Keep in mind, one article will not get the amount of targeted web traffic you are looking for. You will need to write and submit several articles focusing on the topic or niche of your web site. Most article web sites do not allow you to put links to any web sites in the body of the article. However, they do allow a bio box about the author to be used and a link can be placed in this text that points to your web site. Before publishing any articles, review each article web siteâ??s policies.

Social media sites like Squidoo or Hubpages are sites where the members create and provide most of the content for the site. These types of sites allow you to directly link to your web site. So, you can create a page on the site that discusses the topic that your web site is about. You can include links to your web site allowing the visitor to the social media site to follow the link or click through to your site. This then brings targeted web traffic to your web site because the visitor wants more information on the topic of your web site. As with all 3 of these web site traffic ideas, these social media sites want good content and not one big advertisement. Being spammy and not providing any useful content may get your page deleted. And there goes all your hard work.

Blogging and Microblogging are similar and are both ways to get targeted web traffic. Blogging can be done by having your own blog web site or using a community blogging website. Wordpress has both types. I believe it is better to have your own blog so you are in control of the blog contents. Blogging is a platform that encourages the question â??Whatâ??s on your mind?â? to be answered. This type of site allows you to put in your own content, create links to your sites or other sites, similar to social media sites. Updating your blog weekly is a must. The search engines love new content. These updates can be short. Microblogging are sites that encourage very short entries, some only a couple of lines. One of these sites is Twitter. If blogging asks, â??whatâ??s on your mind?â?, microblogging asks, â??whatâ??s on your mind right now?â?As with blogging, you can link to your web site with microblogs, but be sure to provide good, informative content.
Using all three of these traffic generating ideas together will help bring in a steady stream of traffic. All of these ideas should be done on a consistent basis to keep the flow of targeted web traffic going to your site. Although I have only listed a few resources, there are almost unlimited resources that can be used to get web site traffic.

Google Page Rank is not Important

Posted on December 9th, 2009 in Google | No Comments »

Are you obsessed by your web site’s Google page rank. Are you consumed by the number that little green bar says your web site is worth. Do you think an increasing Google page rank is the key to more traffic than your server can handle and also to untold riches. If you have answered yes you may well be suffering from what I call Page Rank Paranoia. You may need help.

Despite all your unswerving efforts to protect and grow your precious page rank to the exclusion of all else, have the results of your dogged pursuit of a higher page rank from good old google actually resulted in nothing but a torrent of traffic to your site and a high position in search results. I’ll wager it has not.

There is much more to effective promotion of your web site than relying on the perception that a high google page rank automatically means an excellent positioning for your site in the search engine rankings. Of course it is nice to have that little green bar progressing further and further towards the right. It makes you feel good but does it really matter. I suggest to you that it does not.

Instead of developing Page Rank Paranoia and taking all consuming measures to increase the page rank of your web site take a step back and consider all the other promotional opportunities you are missing out on. Promotional opportunities which can increase traffic to your site regardless of page rank. Ask yourself what is most important to you. Is it a nice page rank or traffic to your web site. Do not concentrate on the former to the exclusion of the latter.

Link exchanges are still an effective way of drawing traffic. Don’t automatically reject that link exchange request because the webmaster asking you about the link exchange has a lower page rank that you. He might just be starting out and you can help him on his way by exchanging links if you want to. Just think back to when you were in that position.

There are other things you can do straight away to help your search engine relevance. For example your meta tags by making sure they are highly relevant to the subject matter of your web site, including your URL in forum posting and all the other tried and tested old chestnuts of web site promotion. And yes that includes article marketing.

So my suggestion to you is to ignore that google page rank and do not get hung up about it. Turn your mind to other ways to promote your web site and you may be pleasantly surprised by the results.

Importance of Page Rank

Posted on December 5th, 2009 in Google | No Comments »

Every website worth its name is today swearing by Google Page Rank. To put it simply, Google Page Rank is a tool developed by Google, based on clearly defined set of algorithms, to determine the importance of a website or a webpage. PR or Page Rank is determined by the number of websites linking to the particular website. Here the catch is that the linking websites should be relevant to the linked website and must have high page ranks themselves.

Search Engine Optimization is at the root of the need for improving the Page Rank of a website. The higher your Google PR, the higher your website would be listed in the Google Search. The more number of websites are linked to yours, the more votes you would get for getting a higher PR.

The relevance of the linking websites is very important. Mere linking to websites whose page ranks are abysmally low, does not in any way help to get your PR improved. There are no easy approach to improving your PR all of a sudden. Obviously if you are exchanging links with reputed websites with high Page Rankings, then you are well on your way to improving the PR of your website. Here again the relevance of the linking websites to your website is very crucial.

A Web Development website would achieve no purpose if it were to link with many internet marketing or art websites.

Linking to websites without exchanging or adding their links to your website is actually more rewarding. But this often comes at a price. Free linking without exchanging is often a waste of time since most of the free-linking websites make you wait interminably.

Page Rank of the website or webpage linking with your site is very important. This determines the number of votes that your website receives on account of such linking. Every new website or webpage starts with a Page Rank Zero. Google updates the Page Rank on a regular basis. Hence care must be taken to ensure that the web page you are linking with has a high PR.

It is better to ensure that there are fewer links outgoing on the page that you are linking with, so that you receive more PR value. The higher the links, the larger the sharing of PR value. To explain further, if you link with a webpage with PR of 6 which has 100 outgoing links, the PR value you receive would be considerably less than that you would receive when you link with a webpage of PR 4 which has only 10 outgoing links.

Web pages which display your links in Java Script do not help you improve your PR. Similarly if your links are ones which are redirected ,they too have no value or bearing on your PR. Most websites which offer free linking services actually trick their clients by such links which have no value.

Page Rank of your website can be improved considerably by two methods. One is to build a website with such quality and content that other websites would automatically want to link with. The PR would improve dramatically on its own. The other method is if you are building a marketing or product oriented website, then better work hard by link building with high PR websites.

7 Time-tested Content Types for Driving Web Traffic to Your Site

Posted on December 4th, 2009 in traffic | No Comments »

If you have website or a blog, you need to create contents that people find useful. If the content is valuable, other sites will link to your content and you will increase the number of back links to your site. These back links will not only generate direct traffic from those sites, it will also help increase your search engine ranking and organic traffic.

So, what types of contents are baits for other sites to link to your sites? This article discusses seven types of contents that are proven to be magnets for back links. Try out a few of these techniques to increase your links and traffic.

1. Crete “How To” Guides. This type of guides is popular and also very useful to the readers Write down a few ideas related your niche and use authoritative websites to do your research.

Make it a step-by-step, preferably numbered like 1, 2, etc., guide. It should be as simple as a recipe but has enough details for some one to follow the steps to accomplish something.

2. Write controversial opinion on breaking news. Don’t repeat the news. Big news organizations have hundreds of paid stuff for news reporting. You need to analyze the news and offer your own opinions. However, if the opinion is off main stream, it has better chance of attracting others attentions.

3. Videos are becoming ever popular on the web. Create a video related to your niche but make it funny. People love funny videos. You can use kids and pets to create funny video shots and than try to tie those shots to your niche. Upload to a few popular video sites like YouTube and Metacafe. Don’t forget to put your website link in the video and embed the video in your website.

4. Keep a small inexpensive digital camera in you car all the time. When you come across funny things like, billboard and road signs, license plates, etc., take pictures and post it on your site and popular picture sharing sites like flickr, smugmug, etc.

5. Create a web tool related to your niche. Web tools like mortgage calculator, carbon foot print calculator, etc. are popular and useful. Ask your site visitors what type of tools they want to see on your site.

Once you have the details of what the tool should do, go to elance, rent-a-coder, or online programmers and webmasters forums to solicit bids for developing the tool. You don’t have to know any software programming, but you have to know exactly what the tools should do.

6. Solicit ideas for contests from forums you visit regularly and start a contest on your site. Announce it in forums related to your niche. Give away free stuff at least worth $50 to the winner and token prizes to all finalists.

Consider it as your advertisement spending. Run the contest for a month or so for the word to spread around. Encourage your visitors to spread the word.

7. Interview well-known personality in your niche and post the interview on your site. Write to bloggers in your niche about the interview. If the interviewee has some insightful thoughts, other bloggers will write about it and link to the original interview published in your site.

Bloggers use the seven content types described above for viral marketing and link baiting to increase traffic to their sites. If you are running a web site, not a blog, you can still employ these techniques to claim you share of the web traffic in your niche.

10 Ways to Get Web Traffic Free

Posted on November 29th, 2009 in traffic | No Comments »

There are many ways to get web traffic free. Look at just ten of them:

1. Blogging. You can set up a blog and write blogs about your website, and this method will work. A blog is a website where a person comments on ongoing events periodically and presents a person’s point of view on certain things or events. They are usually linked to websites and can generate a substantial amount of traffic.

2. Linking to other sites and from them. A very popular method, just make sure the content of the site you’re linking to and getting links from is similar to your site, but not the same. Also, ask for the web master’s permission , some of them may have objections if you link to a page other than their home page.

3. A very good way is writing articles and submitting them to popular ezines. Doing this periodically can bring a lot of traffic too.

4. Enlist your site into hot internet directories.

5. Participating in forums. Wikipedia classifies forums as a Web application for holding discussions and posting user generated content. Internet forums are also commonly referred to as Web forums, message boards, discussion boards, (electronic) discussion groups, discussion forums, bulletin boards, fora (the latin plural) or simply forums. Systematic participation and having a reputation of the expert may help to drive very targeted traffic to the person’s site.

6. Exchange banners with another web site owner.

7. Search engine optimization. Web masters who are doing SEO are strongly divided in their opinions about search algorithms, especially for Google. Nobody really knows them and there are a lot of rumors. One of them – how Google ranks duplicate content. I’ve seen many duplicates that ranked in Google well. There are many other inconsistencies. Some “gurus” complain about complexity of the optimization, others deny these complains saying that there are very few rules that need to be followed to get a good ranking. In any case, search engines keep their algorithms in secret and frequently change them, making SEO harder then it should be.

8. Email marketing. This way to get web traffic free is also very effective. Most of people receiving emails opt to be on the mailing list beforehand and look for news in this particular area.

9. Making a Newsletter.

10. Social marketing strategies. They are the latest techniques that allow to get web traffic free. Web2.0 consists of many elements and a detailed explanation will make this article too lengthy, it is a topic for another article.

The Internet Marketing an Overview

Posted on November 28th, 2009 in Internet Marketing | No Comments »

There are many types of internet users – I’ll list a few but no doubt there are other classifications and whatever the case today it will be different again in a few days, weeks or months.

There is the user who:-

1. Sees the internet as an opportunity to view anything new – the latest gadget or the latest review or an up to date news source. Go to www.internet-marketing-world.com this type of user is enthusiastic and obviously keen to digest any news or products.

2. Has to use the web because work involves doing so – but really finds it a terrible ‘bore’.

3. There is the real ‘techie’ who likes to utilise the internet for anything – he or she may develop online databases, web sites etc. This individual may also work in this type of environment.

4. The communicator – uses the internet for chat rooms, emails maybe even sharing on-line games.

5. Is a genuine on-line shopper – will purchase goods, make reservations etc.

6. Last but by no means least there is the Internet Marketer – the individual who sees the internet as a means of earning a living or an income from on-line activities.

It’s perhaps correct to say categories 1-5 above would not share a thought with the internet marketer in category 6. For the internet marketer will be constantly looking for opportunities to sell or promote products and services Internet marketing in this way provides what many people would a describe as an ‘ideal live-style’. The successful internet marketer may initially work many hours to earn a meagre living but with the anticipation of working fewer hours and generating a recurring on-going income in the future. This is the real bonus for the talented internet marketing individual – the work completed this month may generate a small income this month but will then continue to grow for several months, reach a peak and then start to decrease. In this situation a few days per week may generate several thousand of pounds, dollars or euros over the next 12 months. If this can be repeated several times then substantial earning can be achieved. I must stress this is very different to the ‘get rich schemes’ – i.e. pay me this today, and then I’ll make sure you earn a fortune!

As the public’s confidence in using the on-line market place continues to grow then so does the range of products and services on offer and the on-line internet market itself continues to grow at even faster rates.

There are several types of internet market and hence several alternative means of internet marketing. For help visit to www.internet-marketing-online-goldmine.com if you wish to join the internet marketing business then you’ll need to look at the alternative business models available to you.

I’ll try identify some of the online internet based markets – but again if I’ve missed anything then my apologies.

Perhaps the first to be established and the most obvious – it is an extension of an existing business. This could be the shop that has been trading for several years and now creates an internet shop and sells some or all of the products that are available when you walk into the store.

How To Get Free Web Traffic

Posted on November 27th, 2009 in traffic | No Comments »

There are many so called miracle solutions advertised on the internet but trust your judgement and leave them well alone. The best way to obtain free web traffic is using proven methods which are used day in day out by successful pros

Here are our free tips …..

Article Marketing

A perennial winner. By writing and publishing articles you will be seen by a large targeted audience which could turn into website visitors. Write articles which relate to your site content and make sure it is an article and not just a free advert for your business. By creating stunning articles you will be published by a host of article directories and that leads to immediate viral traffic as well as helping to build up your own website link popularity. Search engines like this when they index websites and web pages. The more articles published the more web traffic.

Press Releases

Put together a press release about a new product or service you provide and send it too as many PR Agencies as possible. You can find these agencies on the internet fairly easily. We are not going to say that getting your press release published will be easy but remember PR Agencies rely on receiving such press releases to make their business work. Spend time on writing one stunning press release which will appeal to a lot of people and submit to all the PR Agencies.

Link Building

Try and build as many one way links from other external sites to your own web site. Our advice is only target “relevant” or “similar” sites to your own. You can also buy targeted one way links but be careful who you buy these from. Never get involved in link farms, reciprocal links or similar concepts. The search engines will penalise you for doing so when they come to index your web pages.

Search Engines

Never use free submission services to submit your site to search engines. Most search engines will not accept them. It is a tedious job but always manually submit your site to search engines. You will be rewarded with better list rankings

Directories

Duplicate the same train of thought with directory submissions as with search engine submissions. The same basic principals apply and the rewards are good!

What is List Building and Niche List Building?

Posted on November 26th, 2009 in List Building | No Comments »

List Building is the process of creating a database of likeminded individuals online who are interested in same niche that your web site revolves around.

Basically the idea with list building is that instead of simply having one opportunity to sell someone, the time when they come to your web site first, you have many opportunities to sell to someone, or show them the value of your products.

By adding them to your list, or email database, it gives you the opportunity to send them repeat information or invitations to go to your web site. For more details www.craigs-list-profits.com Of course, the more times an individual is exposed to the information on your web site, the more likely it is that they will eventually buy something from you.

So the basic idea of building a list is that you have the opportunity to build a list of email addresses to which you can mail your latest promotions and interesting content.

What is the Objective of List Building?

The objective of list building is basically to create online relationships, and engender trust among the members of your list, so that when they are ready to make a purchase, they choose to purchase from you rather than from someone else’s website.

Who is the Target for List Building?

I think that to identify a target for list building, you have to first identify your market. To whom do you sell? Doctors, students, pet lovers? Whoever you sell to is basically your target market in list building – we generally refer to that target market as a niche market, or niche.

Do you want to learn more about how I do it? I have just completed my brand new guide to article marketing success, ‘Your Article Writing and Promotion Guide’

Download it free here: Secrets of Article Promotion

Sean Mize is a full time internet marketer who has written over 9034 articles in print and 14 published ebooks.
Niche List Building
Niche list building is one of the critical things that you have to do online. You see, when you are building a list, it needs to meet the needs of the people of the list, and the more tightly niched is your list, the better it will meet the needs of the members of your list.

Let us assume that you are selling deep sea fishing equipment and supplies. You want to build your list fast, so you launch a massive advertising campaign to a very general audience offering free information about deep sea fishing. For more details www.37-list-building-secrets.com You will attract a lot of people who will enjoy reading your well-written free information, but don’t have the time or money to spend on an actual vacation to the deep sea. In this case, you would be much better off creating a very small list of people who are already spending money on deep sea equipment. So you have to tightly niche target your list members, so you can offer them the correct information.

So what do you need to do to avoid that scenario? You do not want to offer the wrong product to the right crowd, and vice versa.

You need to decide what you are going to sell (or promote). Then market to that niche. For example, if you decide to sell deep sea fishing equipment, create an informational product on how to get more life out of existing equipment. Now, you will attract subscribers who already have equipment and are using it. Do you see the difference between that and giving away a good looking piece on deep sea fishing? You have the ability to tightly niche market your leads, and you will make more money if you do just that.
